Marina John

With over 12 years of experience in the veterinary field, Marina is a highly skilled Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with a diverse and accomplished background. Originally from Toronto, Ontario, she holds a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Science degree, an RVT Diploma from the University of Guelph, and certifications in Fear Free Handling, Hands-Free Radiology, and Veterinary Acupuncture.

Marina’s career spans a wide range of roles and specialties, including large animal farrowing, research, companion animal and exotics care, emergency and critical care (ER/ICU), internal medicine, and referral services. In addition to her clinical work, she has spent over three years in veterinary management and previously operated her own locum RVT business.

A passionate educator and advocate, Marina has taught in the Veterinary Assistant program at Vancouver Island University (VIU) and served as Vice President of the British Columbia Veterinary Technologists Association. She is also a published author, writing on topics close to her heart—most notably the importance of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) in veterinary medicine. Working independently with guidance from the Operations Manager, Marina’s role as the Assistant Manager involves supporting hospital operations by overseeing human resource tasks for technical and support staff, enhancing patient care and workflows, and leading quality improvement initiatives.

During her off hours, Marina remains actively engaged in supporting the veterinary community through volunteer work and community initiatives. She also loves spending time outdoors, exploring the PEI’s trails and coastlines with her Shiba Inu’s.
