I completed my Bachelors of Science at The University of Victoria before moving to Saskatoon to complete my DVM at the Western College of Veterinary medicine. After graduation, I completed a rotating large animal medicine and surgery internship at the Ontario Veterinary College, before making my way to the Atlantic Veterinary College to complete my residency in large animal internal medicine. After finishing my residency, I completed my PhD at the AVC investigating bovine leukemia virus in Atlantic Canada.
After becoming a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, I’ve been fortunate to stay on at the AVC as part of the large animal medicine service in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, as well as a member of the Department of Health Management. In the VTH, I enjoy seeing patients from all of our large animal species for conditions related to internal medicine. I have been involved in research investigating Bovine Leukemia Virus in Atlantic Canada, and am collaborating with some of our other equine clinicians on research involving draft pulling horses and horses with Equine Metabolic Syndrome. Additionally, I am committed to helping our local small ruminant producers with investigating diseases that affect their animals’ health and welfare.
I currently have 2 large dogs who enjoy hiking and trips to the beach, and am working on fixing up the hobby farm I just bought to have more animals in the future, and hopefully be able to provide a retirement home for our teaching horses.
