Requests for Emergency Referrals

+ If your requested referral is an emergency

For urgent or emergency referral requests, please complete all of the following steps prior to sending your client to us:

1. Call the AVC – Veterinary Teaching Hospital at 902-566-0950 to discuss the case with the relevant clinician, confirm the estimated costs and provide us with your client’s estimated travel time.
2. If we are able to receive the referral, please inform your client of the estimated costs for their visit and that payment is due at the time of service.
3. Please direct your client and patient to make their way to the AVC – Veterinary Teaching Hospital for arrival at the agreed upon time.
4. Complete and submit the online referral submission immediately to allow us the necessary time to review and prepare for your patient’s arrival.  Please select “Emergency” as the referral type so the information is directed appropriately and available to our after-hours team.
