We are located at 550 University Ave in Charlottetown, best accessed via the roundabout on Belvedere Avenue (by the Charlottetown Farmers’ Market). When you enter UPEI from that roundabout, take a right and then an immediate left to reach the Small Animal Hospital parking lot.
Via Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick:
After crossing the bridge, head northeast on the Trans-Canada Highway (Route #1) for approximately 58 kms. Continue on Capital Drive then turn right at the lights onto University Avenue. Turn left at Belvedere Avenue and proceed through the roundabout, exiting left onto the UPEI campus. Turn right at the tee then take the next left. Continue straight ahead to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
Via Northumberland Ferries from Pictou/Caribou, Nova Scotia (service is seasonal only):
After departing the ferry in Wood Islands, continue on the Trans-Canada Highway, (Route #1) for approximately 60 kms. Cross the Hillsborough Bridge to Charlottetown then turn right onto University Avenue. Continue for approximately 2.6 kms., then turn right onto Belvedere Avenue. Proceed through the roundabout, exiting left onto the UPEI campus. Turn right at the tee then take the next left. Continue straight ahead to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
The AVC-VTH is passionate about its goal to provide an outstanding level of health care for its animal patients while also providing clinical teaching and instruction to our senior (final year) Doctor of Veterinary Medicine students, interns and residents.[more]
The AVC Veterinary Teaching Hospital operates 8 AM to 10 PM 7-365. Our front desk is staffed from 8am until 11pm 7 days a week. Clients can call to make appointments, request prescription refills, or to make other general inquiries during those hours. Appointments for Community Practice and Specialty Services are scheduled from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm based on service availability. Clients with animal emergencies can call between 8 AM and 10 PM-7-365.

If you are a registered large animal client of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (including Farm Service and Ambulatory Equine Service clients) and are experiencing an emergency, please call 902-566-0950 and our team will contact the appropriate on-call large animal clinician.
